Who It Suits: Dedicated wildlife travelers and couples who want untouched primary rainforest, offshore coral snorkeling, and boat-access eco-lodges.
Starting Point & Access: San José Domestic Terminal (SJO) — 50-minute domestic flight to Drake Bay (DRK) or Palmar Sur + 1-hour Sierpe mangrove boat (Note: NOT a quick road weekend from San José; driving takes 6.5+ hours).
Suggested Length: 4 Nights / 3 Full Activity Days (minimum recommended for Osa logistics)
Where to Stay (Area First): Recommended area: Agujitas / Playa Colorada (for walkable access to village restaurants, night walks, and main beach boat departures) or boat-access lodges along the Cocalito trail.
Transportation: All Drake Bay marine tours board via wet landing on the main beach at Agujitas (pack dry bags and water sandals). Domestic flights or Sierpe river boats ($20 each way) are arranged separately.
Less Strenuous Alternative: Less strenuous option: Choose the Río Claro River Float ($80) and Agujitas night walk ($55) instead of the full-day Corcovado trek.
